Hello everyone, hope you are well. I was writing to give you an update on the status of the #WATERLANDtrial.
The study is now designed, the protocol is done, the central ethical committee of the study (CEIm, Hospital Dr. Balmis, Alicante, Spain) has given approval to the study.
We are managing together with you the permission of the ethical committees of the participating centers.
In the next 2 weeks we will do the final tests on the REDCap web-based electronic case report to detect possible problems, and we will work on the Statistical Analysis Plan. In a few weeks we will submit the protocol for open-access publication. We plan to start recruiting in June. We are so excited!
In the protocol we sent you, you can find the conditions of authorship of the study. It is important that you review them to be able to organize and motivate the collaborators of your centers, here you have a copy of these conditions:
Authorship rules
Coauthor: your name is listed among the authors of the study on the first page of the final main publication. Here you can find an example of a publication in which I am a coauthor.
Collaborator: your name is included in the supplementary appendix of the study, but is not included among the coauthors of the study according to the previous definition. In general, Pubmed detects collaborators and if you search by their name you can find that publication. Here you can find an example of a study in which I am a collaborator but not an author. You can find my name in “Collaborators, Affiliations“ clicking on “+ expand”
1 to 15 patients
Two investigators from the center will be acknowledged as collaborators in the supplementary appendix of the final publication and the scientific journal will be asked to officially acknowledge both investigators as collaborators of the study.
16 to 30 patients
One investigator will be included as coauthor of the study and 2 other investigators from the center will be acknowledged as collaborators in the supplementary appendix of the final publication and the scientific journal will be asked to recognize both investigators as official collaborators of the study.

Two investigators will be included as coauthors of the study and 1 investigator from the center will be acknowledged as collaborator in the supplementary appendix of the final publication and the scientific journal will be asked to recognize that investigator as official collaborator of the study.
